Local branches of the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) provide much-needed cooling at the KALTENBACH IPS!
The end of June 2019 – the hottest week on record so far this year with temperatures rising to 40°C. The very week of the KALTENBACH in-house show in Lörrach. The IPS is held every two years on the company premises – and marks the most important event in the calendar.
A huge marquee for the show and a circus tent for entertainment were set up on the showground, both of which were equipped with air conditioning. However, there was only enough power available to run three of the four air conditioning units. The fourth air conditioning unit would make all the difference in the packed show marquee. Colleagues who worked as volunteer firefighters came up with a brilliant idea: Why not contact the local THW, a German relief organisation which is also run mainly by volunteers, and request an additional generator? Working as a team, they acquired a generator, operating staff and an adequate supply of fuel. Then after some time and with a little technical assistance, they eventually obtained an electricity supply to provide the much-needed cooling.
A major contribution to ensuring the smooth running of an excellent event! KALTENBACH has donated €1000 to THW Freiburg Friends’ Association to thank them for coming to the rescue.
Our thanks go to the local branches in Freiburg, Lörrach and Schopfheim, and especially to Udo Rebell and Nico Lang from THW Lörrach for their invaluable support!
